Senior Laboratory Technician


Are you ready to work in a dynamic and fast-moving team delivering a new area of testing for Hill Labs? 

This is an exciting opportunity - We’re seeking a motivated and experienced professional to work in our newly established Raw Milk Testing team based in Hamilton. 

What you’ll do 

The Senior Technician role will involve developing and producing in-house calibration samples, helping establish and perform reference testing methods, building quality systems and documentation for ISO 17034 and 17025, supporting launch of dairy commodities testing.

You will report directly to the Section Manager for Raw Milk testing and work within the larger Operations area of our business. 

Core functions of this Senior Technician role will include; organising and coordinating daily routine operations, routine testing and review of reference methods, preparation and management of calibration samples. This role will also be heavily involved in helping establish and execute a full suite of accredited services that meet the needs of dairy companies seeking dairy commodities testing services. 

What you’ll bring

  • Previous experience in calibration sample preparation. 
  • Previous experience in ISO 17034 and ISO 17025 quality systems. 
  • Previous experience in with reference dairy testing methods. 
  • Sound experience of technical laboratory processes. 
  • Excellent operational focus with attention to time management, prioritisation and work allocation to achieve the required KPI’s. 
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills. 
  • Team player who can work collaboratively and create a good working relationship with other staff in the team and across the business. 
  • Actively contributes to and supports change initiatives. 

The successful candidate will have a proven history of high personal and professional work standards in a laboratory environment with ideally a minimum of 4 years previous laboratory experience in the areas detailed above.
