Technician - Agriculture Sample Reception


Our commercial Laboratory based in Hamilton has several fixed term, full-time positions available for Laboratory Technician's to join the Agriculture Sample Reception team.   

We are looking for people who maintain a high level of integrity in their work, are capable of physical work, and enjoy developing their technical skills.   

Your day-to-day will include:   

  • Manual sample preparation of soil and plant material 
  • Some data entry 
  • Working closely with the extended team throughout Hill Labs 
  • Lifting up to 20kg will occasionally be required   

Full, on the job training in a professional laboratory environment will be provided.

Candidates do not require previous laboratory experience or a qualification in science for this role. 

These are fixed term full time roles working 40 hours per week, which may include Saturdays.

  • A good attitude to learn and develop, is reliable, punctual, conscientious and able to work as part of a team as well as independently 
  • Able to work in a highly physical environment, previous experience in a physically demanding role (advantageous) 
  • Good computer skills, time management, organisational skills, and attention to detail. 
  • Self-motivated with an ability to use initiative and go the extra mile 
  • Be able to develop new ideas and provide a solution to problems 
  • Ability to rapidly shift priorities and work pace in response to fluctuating sample volumes 
  • Demonstrate the mental and physical stamina to maintain performance and accuracy during extended periods of repetitive, fast-paced tasks
